Laurence Gartner

Laurence Gartner has been engaged by overseas and local corporations. Predominantly in rapidly rebuilding time consuming processes, consolidating, integrating and simplifying these via numerical techniques Actual case studies are available on this site – over 30 documented cases ranging across a host of industries

Process mathematics was developed and is used to build processes that profile, analyse and consolidate disparate data sources. This is in contrast to cutting code and / or deploying "off the shelf" software. This method is faster, less ambiguous, requires less resources and less investment to understand the problem.

The Rapid Response techniques was modelled after years of experience in the field varying across various industries At one end of the spectrum, it provides a solution that will result in immediate savings and risk mitigation - a solution that is integrated as part of a medium term outlook At the other end of the spectrum, it results in immediate savings releasing time and resources whilst at the same time providing a working pilot for consultants or IT The emphasis on numerical analysis as opposed to verbal definitions has reduced ambiguity, increase speed of delivery and adaptability to change

Algomatics™

The Challenge:  A plethora of products (Access, Excel sheets, Macros, VB objects) are used to compliment the organisation’s set of core systems – be they SAP, Peoplesoft, etc. These increase the potential risk and exposure to the continuity of business should any of these products fail or require support. More often than not, they are not even listed in the BCP or DRP. Whilst these have been built to bridge functional or data deficiencies, they have also introduced inefficiencies and data integrity risks. To mitigate this risk, an approach has been formulated which allows the replacement of these with a more simplified, integrated and automated range of processes.

The Answer - Technique:  A rapid paced technique known as Algomatics™ was deployed. This technique draws upon the principles used by profilers and forensic analysts to ascertain requirements. It then uses algorithms and mathematical techniques to design and build the new process. At all times, data (used by the current process to be replaced) is the working capital for building the solution.

I have known and worked with Laurence for over 20 years. Laurence is an enormously valuable source of business counsel and advice, as well as an extremely safe pair of hands in terms of implementation and delivery. Laurence is uniquely skilled; he has very deep mastery of (and qualification in) a broad range of business disciplines including: Finance, Technology, Strategy and Project Management; and his experience spans from strategy formulation and planning through to execution. As a consequence, he has the rare ability to take a truly multi-disciplined view of a business issue. His approach combines energy and enthusiasm with a very sharp attention to detail. I have no hesitating recommending Laurence. Scott Sunderman (United Kingdom) Group Chief Executive Officer at Healix International (England)
Laurence is a founding member of the SMI and we are grateful to him for his support for our organisation which has included a significant contribution towards the growth of our membership base and in the general awareness of our services Dr Paul Hunter Chief Executive (Strategic Management Institute)
Laurence has helped streamline our way of reporting our efforts in collecting fresh food for people in need, and in performing these innovative changes has reduced report generation time by several days each month to just a few hours. Elaine Montegriffo CEO (SecondBite)
I had the good fortune to have worked very closely with Laurence Gartner for several years on the SteelSafe Truck Immobilizer Project. Laurence was instrumental in propelling the development of this product for the cargo security and road transport sector. He is highly intelligent, self-confident, innovative and creative, and follows projects with an undaunted passion. Laurence’s dedication to work, organization, and the tireless attention to detail in the pursuit of perfection are attributes that have lead him to numerous successes. Laurence is truly a unique individual who would be a great asset to any business. Keith L. Harring (USA) President (K.L.Harring Transportation LLC – USA Pennsylvania)
I have worked with Laurence for the past 5 years and have found him to be an incredibly intelligent, talented person who not only has amazing skills in the IT area but also a very good general knowledge of many other subject areas. Not only is Laurence and talented individual, but he is a very personable and a hard working individual. Most recently, Laurence has enabled our School in the Faculty of Medicine and Health Science to significantly reduce the amount of administration time spent by our Administration Office and by our Lecturers in the analysis of our Exam results. A task that used to take our office hours to prepare and sometimes days of turnaround now can be accomplished in minutes. The turnaround in having to recalibrate statistics has vanished down to seconds. In addition to this product, Laurence has designed and built an Exam Generator. We are currently in the process of reviewing this product. We anticipate a significant improvement in Exam generation quality and a significant reduction in Exam preparation time. Unlike other Exam providers, this product truly provides a way of mixing exam questions between publishers, external sources, internal sources - we are no longer bound by third party providers. I have certainly enjoyed working with Laurence and look forward to many more projects in which we can work together. Dr Graeme Hyman PhD, MSc, BA, Dip G.S. A written recommendation cannot truly demonstrate the value Laurence provides, both professionally and personally. The below can only hope to highlight a few aspects of Laurence’s contribution to the Telstra Channel Quality team.

Laurence was engaged to develop and lead the Channel Quality forensic capability. Drawing on his expansive experience, Laurence speedily developed a core suite of algorithmic- based solutions. Conceptually, the adaptive solutions profiled the sales and service outcomes Telstra’s retail frontline (20,000 staff). This resulted in questioning and understanding optimal points of performance and isolate associated drivers. Consequently, we were able to link senior management to the underlying in’s and out’s of the frontline and reveal what was really happening. This then drove increased strategic engagement across the business and provide critical intelligence into decisions.

Laurence’s astute observations, and ability to link seemingly disparate influences across business, also contributed to wider business discussions.

Personally, Laurence’s interpersonal attributes are numerous; quickly becoming a loved member of the team. ‘Only Laurence could’ was regularly heard across our pod. The attribute I can unequivocally speak to now is TRUST. Laurence is genuine trusted advisor and mentor (both a colleague and friend), any interaction with him leaves you with an innate sense of comfort. This is an invaluable in an increasingly complex and erratic environment.

All I can say to conclude this is Thank You with the utmost sincerity.

I worked with Laurence and the Trisigma organisation in my role as Head of Department, Graduate and Degree Programs at Holmesglen Institute over a period of some 2 1/2 years. In trialing the Tertiary Assessment Management (TAMS) System, Laurence could not have been more helpful in tailoring the system to our specific needs. Laurence's intellect and intuitiveness meant he was able to fully understand our needs and as the designer of the program, he was able to tweak the system so that it did precisely what we requested. Laurence was extraordinarily helpful, patiently spending time with myself or the subject matter expert to understand our needs and demonstrate the changes made. I always found Laurence to be very approachable, extremely knowledgeable and a very friendly, kind and courteous chap. I look forward to continuing my relationship and friendship with Laurence long in to the future. I was delighted when Laurence confirmed that he will be able to assist my Branch to accelerate the development of a new system. The new system was requitred to meet our statutory obligations in relation to the Energy Intensive Trade Exposed Scheme [EITE]. The work involved the development of rapid implementation strategies and processes for the assessment, mitigation and management of risk. The work involved the building of multi-purpose advanced analytics and reporting tools and a test-case Generator for calibrating and issuing Exemption Certificates. Laurence greatly helped my Branch and CER IT team to complete the build in a very short span of time.

TriSigma, through Peter Halcomb a Founding Partner, and their alliance partner Laurence Gartner [Strategic Process (Re) Engineering], have been working with Monash University's School of Psychological Sciences [the School] since 2014. Their work came to my notice in 2016, where they had been working with the School to increase the rigour of our assessment process to an even higher standard and to significantly reduce the amount of administration time spent by our Education Office and Lecturers in the generation of our examination papers and in the analysis of our exam results. This was a task that used to take our office days of preparation days of administrative turnaround, that can now be accomplished in a few hours. The recalibration of assessment statistics now only takes a few minutes, we also have ready access to a rich library of questions that make complying with University assessment policy much easier.

In the time I have known them, Peter and Laurence have always worked with the best interests of a fruitful business partnership with Monash University. They have demonstrated at all times a high level of creativity, agility and a willingness to adapt to our changing needs. I have the pleasure of recommending them to any future client.
